Leafy Greens (Lettuce, Kale, Arugula, Chard, Spinach, Spring Mix, Tatsoi, Mizuna, Sorrel)

These leafy greens are quick to sprout—usually within 2 to 5 days—but they prefer to keep it cool. Aim for a germination sweet spot of 65–75°F.
Delicate types like Bibb, Gourmet, and Butterhead don’t appreciate the heat—too warm and they might ghost you entirely. For an extra edge, pre-chill seeds in the fridge for 3–5 days before planting to mimic nature’s seasonal cues.
Once seedlings emerge, thin down to the strongest one per cube to give it room to thrive.

Aromatic Herbs (Basil, cilantro, dill, oregano, parsley, lavender, lemon balm, sage, thyme, rosemary, hyssop)

SLOW GERMINATORS! Lavender, Lemon Balm, Thyme, and Rosemary can take 10-21 days.
Keep consistent warmth and moisture – patience pays off.
Cilantro and Dill are fast to germinate taking 3-5 days, but prefer cooler conditions like spinach (although not nearly as stubborn!)

Warm-season crops(Peppers, Tomatoes, Eggplant, Cucumber, Squash, Watermelon)

Need consistent heat to germinate (consider a Germinator to assist with successful germination)
Eggplant and Peppers take longer to sprout (7-14 days)
Micro-Tom Tomatoes and Cherokee Purple are both performers. Be patient and provide strong light once they sprout (did you know the Germinator also comes with an LED lamp?)

edible flowers and herbs (Calendula, chamomile, chives, violas, marigolds, nasturtiums, borage)

Soak Nasturtiums, Calendula, and Borage in warm water for 4-8 hours before sowing.
Chives and Chamomile can take longer to germinate, be patient!
Marigolds are great for beginners as they are very forgiving with their environment.
Transplant Borage and Nasturtiums early. These seeds do grow better when they are transplanted being being rootbound.
